Discover Kilimanjaro: A Day Trek Through Nature’s Finest

You certainly can’t climb Kilimanjaro in a day, but our day tour of this iconic, snow-capped mountain will give you an excellent taste of why Africa’s highest peak is so popular. During the day, we will follow the popular Marangu Route and walk as far as the first hut —the Mandara— where our picnic lunch will be taken. As other trekkers continue upwards, bound for the summit, we will make the descent again and return to Moshi or Arusha.

06:00 – Pick-up from Your Hotel
Your guide will meet you at your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha.
After a short briefing, you'll set off for Kilimanjaro National Park's Marangu Gate, the starting point of the Marangu Route.
Drive time: ~1 hour from Moshi / ~2.5 hours from Arusha.
08:00 – Arrive at Marangu Gate (1,860 meters)
Upon arrival, you'll register at the Kilimanjaro National Park office.

The Marangu Gate is the official trailhead where your journey begins.

The trail is well-maintained and gently slopes upward.
Your guide will share insights about the mountain’s flora, fauna, and cultural significance.
12:00 – Arrive at Mandara Hut (2,700 meters)
After about 3-4 hours of hiking, reach the Mandara Hut—the first overnight camp for multi-day climbers.
Explore the nearby Maundi Crater (optional short walk) for panoramic views toward Kenya on a clear day.
Enjoy a well-earned picnic lunch while soaking in the fresh mountain air.
13:30 – Begin Descent to Marangu Gate
After lunch and rest, start your descent through the same scenic rainforest trail.
Spot wildlife and take in the beauty of Kilimanjaro one last time.
